Pivot to Possibility
Angelique Miles, Necole Kane, and Bevy Smith serve as a point of reference for purposeful pivots.

Bliss, or the pursuit of it, led to the creation of this blog. Anyone who has known me for any amount of time would describe me as an optimist in spite of all I’ve endured. Well, much of the deeper wounds have surfaced over the past few years.
As they say, I’m in my sandwich generation “era.” When you find yourself there, it can be very confronting. You end up taking care of the very people who may have scarred you all while helping to raise the next generation with as much care as possible.
For a while, my closest friends and family members urged me to take charge of my life. Each one reminded me of the freedoms I had. I am single. I have no children. Yet, I am committed to someone who has lived without consequence. Damn.
Their counsel did not hit home until I realized my light was dimming. I started to believe that life is as it is and I knew this mindset had to change. So I made a list of women who embodied the traits I wanted to develop as I reclaim my life. Here’s a few:
Beauty - Angelique Miles
At the age of 40, Angelique Miles was at a pivotal point in her career and health. Due to the changes in the music publishing industry in the early 2000’s, her role as an executive had come to pass and she noticed that she had gained unwanted weight. Angelique decided to do CrossFit and documented her fitness transformation on social media. Today, she is recognized as an over 50 beauty and fitness influencer.
Bliss - Necole Kane
Media mogul Necole Kane reached millions of readers with her celebrity gossip blog, NecoleBitchie.com. At the height of it, Necole took down the site and launched the women’s lifestyle blog, xoNecole. The public witnessed Necole’s growing pains before the new site was acquired by Will Packer Media. Now, Necole is uplifting women through her feminine health and wellness brand, My Happy Flo, while documenting her own bliss.
Bevy Smith, Author and TV Personality
Boldness - Bevy Smith
Bevy Smith lived the dream life as a fashion advertising executive. At the age of 38, she risked the security of her cushy life to embark on a journey towards her most authentic self. Bevy admits that the road was not easy and it was paved with moments of uncertainty and periods of financial insecurity. Currently, she is a widely known author, speaker, and media personality proving her own philosophy, “it gets greater later.”
As you seek out your own guiding light, it is important to consider people who have surpassed your current circumstances. Through their stories you learn that life is more than how it feels for you in the moment. Instead, what you are going through prepares you for new possibilities.
